Dell Printer Supplies

Anyone who has ever heard or seen a Dell commercial knows that they take great pride in their “Award Winning Service and Support” for all of their computers. But does the same ring true when you’re trying to purchase a printer that is not with a computer or even if you’re just stocking up on printer supplies?  Dell owners will tell you that when it comes to reordering printer supplies, the company is borderline annoyingly helpful.  It all begins with a message starting when your printer cartridges are about one fourth empty and it goes from there.

If you are more concerned with quality and knowing that your printer is getting the parts it was made for than you are about saving money, a Dell website or retailer will have the most options and often better information than discount dealers and off-brand distributors.  If you have a recent Dell printer, you will be given many opportunities to click a link (usually while you are printing something) and go directly to the website showing your exact printer and all available accessories.  If that’s not clear enough for you, all you have to do is call the customer sales line and ask all the questions you want.

Dell’s “Award Winning Service and Support” is not completely without its flaws, however.  Like most companies, Dell has outsourced most of its call centers to India and other countries which often pose somewhat of a language barrier.

Still, the majority of the representatives that you will speak with are friendly and happy to repeat themselves as many times as it takes for you to understand.  One other downside to purchasing Dell printer supplies directly from the company is, most obviously, the price.  Most printer supplies are the most expensive when you purchase them from the manufacturer’s retail outlet whether it is a website or store.

If budget is a top priority for you and you are planning to print documents rather than high detailed graphics, you can usually find reasonable substitutes for Dell printer supplies through discount retailers.  A standard three-pack of color and black ink jet cartridges can go for as much as $60 and sometimes more when purchased from the manufacturer.

However, retailers offering “Dell Compatible” items are often much less expensive and serve your purpose just fine.  Again, this is especially true if your purposes are those of simple every day use.  High detail graphics and photographs might be better if you stick to the original Dell printer supplies rather than “knock-offs”.
