Hewlett Packard Printers Cartridges - Getting the Biggest “Bang” for your Buck

For simple home office and family use, most people are not willing to put forth several hundred dollars to purchase a printer that will rarely be used for anything of great importance. Between shopping lists, school papers, permission slips and letters, a simple desk jet printer between $100 and $200 will fit the bill for most families.  Hewlett Packard has a very large variety of these types of printers that make simple and inexpensive work out of owning a printer, including replacing the print cartridges.

Hewlett Packard has been in the business of printers and print cartridges for years and has made a niche for itself in the marketplace as a good printer for the “family” computer or a small home office.  In a world that is growing increasingly paperless, the need for printers in the home is diminishing but it is still there.  The HP Deskjet 6480, 3420, 9800d and 6122, just to name a few, among the extensive line of printers Hewlett Packard offers for less than $200.  They are all color printers, which does mean purchasing and replacing color inkjet cartridges which can be substantially more than simple black ink.  However, just as there are economical printers available, there are inexpensive print cartridges to go along with them.

A standard black Hewlett Packard print cartridge retails from the manufacturer for approximately $20.  However, like most manufacturers, the prices are much higher buying directly from them as a consumer than they would be if you purchased from an office supply retailer.  Prices for this same cartridge will be around $15 anywhere else, making it more affordable, just like the printer.  Color cartridges will of course be more expensive than black and white, but in comparison to many other color cartridges, the Hewlett Packard prices will be much more reasonable.

Anytime you’re buying new, aftermarket or refurbished Hewlett Packard print cartridges, you can usually save some money by spending a little extra up front.  For example, if you need a black printer cartridge, you can get one by itself for $15-$20.  However, if you buy the fill cartridge pack that includes black and the three colors you can expect to spend $40-$45, which saves you the expense of purchasing them each for $15-$20 each.  Additionally, price clubs that sell items in bulk can save you quite a bit of money in the long run as well.  It may cost you $100 up front, but you could get several cartridges that would actually cut your expenses in half.  You don’t have to buy bargain basement printer cartridges to get a good deal as long as you know where to look.
