Lexmark Print Cartridges: Easiest to Refill, Reuse and Replace |
|
|
Lexmark printers have somewhat of a bad reputation due some poor consumer reports about poor quality printing and slow speeds. However, Lexmark has placed itself in the market as one of the most affordable printers to purchase and, if owned correctly, it can be inexpensive to maintain as well. One of the most costly expenses for any printer owner is replacing the inkjet cartridges. Lexmark print cartridges tend to be quite expensive, often more expensive than the printer itself. It is for that reason that it is a good idea to know what retailers offer suitable replacements and alternatives to purchasing brand new Lexmark print cartridges. The difference between original manufacturer print cartridges and recycled cartridges is pretty small. Because they are remanufactured by Lexmark, often the prices are similar to purchasing new. Lexmark “compatible” print cartridges may be more economically beneficial than name brand ones. These are cartridges manufactured by a third party to fit and work in Lexmark printers. The practice as a whole is not exactly liked by the printer manufacturers but, then again, you probably don’t love paying an arm and a leg for new cartridges either, so call it even. One of the best ways to save money on print cartridges for your Lexmark printer is by refilling them. Not all brands of inkjet cartridges cooperative when it comes to refilling, but Lexmark’s are surprisingly simple. You can purchase a refill kit for $10-$20 and get more than one refill use out of it, so the numbers speak for themselves. If you can operate a syringe you have all the know-how necessary to refill an ink cartridge. Just read the directions carefully and try not to get ink all over yourself. Of course, it doesn’t always work out and sometimes mistakes are made, but isn’t it better to make those mistakes with a $50 Lexmark than a $500 Epson? Refilled, recycled and third party aftermarket inkjet print cartridges aren’t always the best way to go. It really depends on your project. Most of Lexmark’s printers are geared toward simple printing of documents and some pictures with simple colors and low graphics. For these purposes, most of the above mentioned alternatives make great replacements for their much more expensive factory original counterparts. There may be times, however, that you need the original or just can’t find a suitable replacement for a Lexmark print cartridge. For those times just be sure to shop around and purchase from a third party retailer rather than directly from Lexmark. Most manufacturer’s prices are higher than a retail store would be. Shop smart so you don’t have to spend a fortune on your print jobs. |
