Printer Cartridge Recycling |

Printer cartridges, much like gasoline, are a rising cost that everyone is happy to complain about but few will do anything to change. In addition to these rising costs, the Earth is slowly suffering from increased land usage for landfills and dump sites. The last time you purchased new cartridges for your printer; did you consider the impact your decision had on the environment? As consumers, anything that we can do to better the situation of the Earth and the economy is our patriotic duty and right. So what can you do? Printer cartridge recycling is a growing trend that has only caught on within the past few years. Two decades ago it was less of an issue because fewer consumers actually had printers in their homes. However, now just about every home with a computer, every school and business in the nation and across the globe have printers and many of them utilize cartridges made of plastic. Plastic is a widely used and highly polluting substance that is made from oil, another resource that has gone up in price over the past several years. With millions of printer cartridges being consumed each year, one must wonder why something hasn’t been done to conserve these objects that can actually be reused and sold again rather than dumped or destroyed. Well, in fact, the idea has come about and today many people, businesses and organizations take part in printer cartridge recycling for a number of reasons. Some do it in an effort to contribute to charities, others collect and return the cartridge much the way others do aluminum cans, and others still simply do it in an effort to preserve some space in the world for their children and grandchildren. Any reason is good because they are all working toward a greater good in their own ways. You personally might get a less than a dollar if you were trying to sell printer cartridges back to the manufacture for recycling purposes. This would hardly be worth your time. However, when you donate your cartridges to a community charity, along with other people and businesses in the neighborhood, the charity can turn in the cartridges in return for a large payment which benefits their organization much more than a few cents would have ever benefitted you. There are actual foundations built upon the recycling of printer cartridges, toner cartridges and even cell phones. Printer cartridge recycling is a great way to use part of your business or home office waste to benefit others in your community. |
