Recycling Printer Cartridges UK, Well Advanced Than The US |
|
|
Most major computer and printer manufacturers that are dominant on the United States market also have operations or subsidiaries in other countries, including the United Kingdom. Technology does not differ much across oceans, though there may be one or two minor things that can make finding printer cartridges in the UK or for devices specified for the UK a little bit of a challenge. Dell, for example, is a largely popular, United States based computer company that also offers products worldwide. However, where it advertises nearly 90 different printer models on the “United States” portion of its website, only 12 are seen on the “United Kingdom” section. The UK is no different from the US when it comes to demanding the best buy when it comes to just about anything, including printer cartridges. The prices, given the exchange rate, are not very different from one another either. Ink2u is a UK printer cartridge and toner website that advertises the best deals and most major brands. Olivetti is one brand, however, that you won’t hear much about in the US but is largely popular as a manufacturer of multifunctional printers, scanners and fax machines. It is one of the only brands that you will have to check UK websites exclusively to find printer cartridges. Most other brands can be found almost anywhere. Printer and printer cartridges brands are not the only link that the US and UK have on this subject though. The United States is most definitely not the only country interested in helping to reduce the amount of waste that piles into landfills each year. Many other countries, including the United Kingdom have concerned citizens heading up the fight by collecting printer cartridges, toner cartridges and other items that are used and tossed on a regular basis but can easily be refurbished and used again. It makes perfect sense when you think about it. Offices and individuals around the world will continue to use and purchase toner and printer cartridges. Now, either the manufacturers can continue using oil and other resources to create the plastic with encompasses these items, only to be sold, used and thrown away, OR they can make use of the ones already here. Cartridges4Charity is an organization in the UK whose mission is pretty clear. They collect old printer cartridges, toner cartridges and even old cell phones to be sold to companies that will refurbish and sell them. These companies pay Cartridges4Charity and the proceeds are divided among three charities: Cruse Bereavement Care, See Ability—Seeing Beyond Disability, and Cardiac Risk in the Young. The benefits here are threefold because they are helping to keep the cartridges out of landfills, donating money to charity and cutting costs for the eventual purchasers of refurbished cartridges which are sold at a slight discount because they are not brand new. Cartridges4Charity, CartridgeSave and other organizations are making great progress in keeping costs of printer cartridges in the UK low while making strides to improve the “Royal” environment. |
